Illustrator drawing a specimen study at her studio desk

Visual communication for science, nature, and health.

Curiosity led me from a background in biology to becoming a certified scientific illustrator. I turn complex subjects into clear, functional, and beautiful visuals for research, education, and patient understanding.

Where form supports function.

Start with what we need to communicate, then work out how to make it look appealing. Beautiful visuals, built to be used.

Medical & Health Communication

I simplify complex anatomy down to what the story actually needs. If you leave in every detail, you might as well take a photo. A surgical training visual for a surgeon and a patient pamphlet about the same procedure can look completely different, because the audience and the purpose are different. The story comes first; style and design follow.

Scientific & Natural History

Here, the audience often has less influence on style than it does in medical work: a taxonomic plate and a high school textbook figure can still share the same visual language. That leaves more room to play with style and materials. These subjects also lend themselves naturally to observational drawing in the field, lab, archive, or museum, which is where much of the personality in this work comes from.

Publishing & Layout

Often commissioned alongside medical, scientific or natural history illustration, I don't just deliver the image. I build the design around it, combining illustration with your text so the story actually lands. That might mean guiding a reader's eye through a visual abstract, shaping a thesis defense PPT to match your thesis, or laying out a book or figure so it reads clearly instead of overwhelming people.
